Further Research: The Benefits of Nature

More research has emerged this week which focuses on the benefits of time spent in nature.

Researchers at the University of Plymouth, Natural England, the University of Exeter and University of Derby, have been looking at people’s engagement with nature through access to green space. Their research found that individuals who visit natural spaces weekly and feel psychologically connected to them report better physical and mental well-being.

In addition, researchers discovered those who make weekly nature visits, or feel connected to nature, are also more likely to behave in ways which promote environmental health, including recycling and other conservation activities, thereby enriching the health of the planet.

The young people who are employed by The Skill Mill spend a great deal of time in nature. The impact on reoffending rates continues to be amazing, whilst the young people also benefit from improved wellbeing and increased levels of confidence.
