The Skill Mill is the United Kingdom’s national co-ordination partner for World Cleanup Day, a global movement to reduce waste and pollution, including digital waste.
urbanizing world - The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN. Activities are organized year round and the focal point is a day of action which brings together organisations and individuals across the world to clean up local environments.
This year World Cleanup Day will take place on 16th September 2023.
The Skill Mill is a social and environmental mission driven organisation employing young ex-offenders in environmental improvement activities. We receive no funding to organize and deliver World Cleanup Day. The call to action to our commercial partners is to support our local cleanup efforts by buying days’ work:
For example: The Corporate Social Challenge Partner commissions the Skill Mill Teams by paying for 20 days’ work during 2023 (in the community or directly). £550 per day + VAT for a team of 5 = 750 person-hours = £11,000 + VAT. The work will be agreed in advance and all evidence of the community activity collated and reported including photographic and video evidence and impact statements from participants and partners,. Examples of activities include; park maintenance, river and beach clean-ups, removal of fly-tipping etc.
We also encourage Corporate partners to sign up for World Cleanup Day and organize staff participation events and/or promote the event through your marketing channels.
