Britain in Bloom is a nationwide gardening competition, aimed at building communities and tackling local issues. It's held annually by the Royal Horticultural Society. Those who take part receive a visit from an experienced Britain in Bloom judge, who provides tailored feedback, tips and advice to build on their group’s progress.
This year, The Skill Mill Rochdale supported 'Friends of Waterloo Park' with their work for the competition. The team received some fantastic feedback:
"On behalf of Friends of Waterloo Park, I am writing to thank you for the fantastic hard work you & the young people from The Skill Mill put into preparing the park and community garden for Britain in Bloom judging day on Wednesday, 12th July 2023.
Your grounds maintenance work was, as always, of high quality and everyone was polite, friendly, diligent in their work and a credit to, The Skill Mill.
We really appreciate everything you have done for us and hopefully we can continue to work together on future projects in Waterloo Park".

At The Skill Mill, we aim to promote the social, economic and political inclusion of young people, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status. We provide the individuals with means and confidence to positively engage with the society around them. Receiving positive feedback is a brilliant way for our young people to develop their self-esteem.
Thank you to the Friend of Waterloo Park, and to the Royal Horticultural Society. We look forward to being involved next year!
