World Ocean Day 2023

World Ocean Day aims to unite the world to protect our blue planet. This year, the United Nations will host the celebration of the annual event on 8 June 2023, hosted in-person at the UN Headquarters in New York to be broadcasted live. It will highlight the 2023 theme of "Planet Ocean: tides are changing".

The event will focus around how Earth is more than it may seem, and generate a new wave of excitement towards cherishing and protecting the ocean and the entirety of our blue planet. You can tune in by clicking here.

The work of The Skill Mill is intimately connected with the UN Sustainability Development Goals, including Goal 14 which is 'Life Below Water'. We have partnerships with a number of water friendly organisations including Northumberland Rivers Trust, Canal and River Trust, Thames Water, Severn Trent Water and Northumbrian Water. We provide services which contribute to protection against environmental degradation, overfishing, climate change and pollution.

In addition we are the UK lead for World Cleanup Day. World Cleanup Day is one of the biggest civic movements of our time, uniting 191 countries across the world for a cleaner planet. You can find out more, and get involved by clicking here.
